A go client is not going to be easy, and many people are looking forward to having good native clients which would not give such a performance hit, especially if they are playing against software on their own machine. In general, I would suggest heading into good old C and GTK, getting native versions on all Unices, MacOSX, and Win32. BTW, if you haven't already thought of this, I would suggest that you program this client to interface with computer opponents (such as GNU Go) via the Go Text Protocol or other methods.
In any case, glad to see Go getting a little more visibility.

Rather than complain about the screenshots, I'll make a constructive suggestion :-)
You've used JPEG for the images, but this lossy codec is best for images with many subtle colour gradations, like photographic or "natural" images, not screenshots. You would be best using a lossless codec like PNG for screenshots; that way, areas of solid colour won't be blurred and the image will be faithful to the original.

I think it's worthwhile making a Mozilla-based Go client; more options are good. Making a C program portable to many different platforms is a lot of programming overhead (coupled with, it must be admitted, a lot of good programming style). Mozilla is already ported to different platforms; that should mean we get the client finished sooner.
The best is the enemy of the good, as they say.

Please consider making a post to news:rec.games.go when you feel the code can be usefully tested by end-users; the timing will need to be careful though. The denizens of that group won't have a lot of patience for a client that is difficult to install, so you're probably best focussing on getting a very minimal client that installs easily, then adding features as you get feedback from the Go-playing community.

How do you start it? What *.xul should I open in Mozilla 1.0rc2? Or is it done some other way?

This is what I've been looking for. I've given up trying to get cgoban to launch as an Application helper for .sgf files. A mozilla-native go client would kill the need for such ugliness. :)

dear spammers, you are too obtrusive - it has never been good to be too greedy. at the end permanent spamming will result in reaction from the client side, normally banning, link deactivation, or the forums will be polluted until uselessness - for both sides.
